On the WINS tab, enable Net BIOS to Default settings. thanks for the input, ive been trying for days to sort this annoying problem out and now I can finally get back to what I was doing.Cheers again! The problem with that is I would have to disable automatic updates to try and stop the owner from installing SP3, which is supposed to patch some of the holes these I feel like its something simple that was mentioned on this forum but I am lost at this point! check over here

However, you may run into an error, "the server failed to respond..."Without SP1a, installed I am prevented by Microsoft from installing SP2 and SP3. Then go to Windows Update and follow the prompts to install SP3.

When I try to reinstall Service Pack 3 again and (I'll have to do it from safe mode) go into msconfig/General & Boot tab.
