Screen Black After Clean Install Of XP?
Edit: I fixed this by using advanced startup menu (F8), and enabling VGA mode, and once loaded, allowing Windows to automatically change display for optimal settings. I'm running WinXP Pro. How I fixed was I went to control Panel/system/hardware and when to display, there I found my video card and another vga driver when I disabled the generic vga driver. When I boot to the Winodws Xp pro CD I get the Prompt " Press any key to boot from CD" I do so then I see it go to the have a peek here

i tried the same and it works! I just did a quick format/reinstall of Windows XP and I DID NOT do a reinstall of the drivers DVD that came with the pc. Didn't help. The wireless netnet software was on the PC when we got it--so it was factory installed. Have disabled them again and am now using the default microsft ones which works OK. Thanks a lot guys for your valuable inputs and help. Or the "I just wanted to make a copy in case I lose this" CD . I couldn't have gotten this far if not for this forum, so thanks again!
