I have a Medea external videoraid unit that has strangely *disappeared* from explorer as well, but it shows as working normally in the device mgr. If it is not there, check under Other Devices (a category under Device Manager). The reason is that Windows does not support USB 3.0 natively which is something that from all I can tell Linux does natively. then i see the popup on my desktop that there are no drivers for this. Once Windows has completed the boot and is up and running, connect the external drive to a USB port on the rear of the computer, and see if it is detected. check these guys out

I have no idea what their response beyond that was that offends you and that's fine. Unless they actually run a Recovery Media test, they won't find out that they can't restore until it's too late for them. A small notification will appear in the system tray, informing you that your drive is ready to use.

July 4, 2012 ron i have external 1tb wd5000aav external usb. Take a screen capture of the output and post it back here. Have you tried adding it as a master on the secondary controller? If the hard drive does not show up in BIOS, gather as much information about your PC as you can and write it down.
